Celebrate the winter solstice with a moon gazing durational performance by Rachel Beetz and Jennifer Bewerse.

We will observe Jennifer’s real-time films of the year's 12 full moons while listening to an expanded version of Rachel Beetz’s auditory hallucination drone, Pareidolia, through the 12 musical keys. Beginning just after sunset on the longest night of the year, enter this ritual to reflect on past cycles and enter into the dark winter.
Circles and Moons lasts 4 hours. You are invited to stay for the full duration or come and go as you need. Each moon will last approximately twenty minutes, and each season is 50-70 minutes. Seating is modular, and will include chairs and floor cushions. You are welcome to bring your own chair, blanket, or favorite meditation object for comfort.

Jennifer Bewerse is a multimedia artist working across film, music, and performance. She creates time-based works that reconnect people with experiences so familiar they go unnoticed, inviting a more expansive way of seeing their lives and the world around them.
Her work has been presented at CAP UCLA’s Tune In Festival, REDCAT, 2220 Arts & Archives, Experiments in Electronic Sound Festival, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and the Fivesparks Harvard Music Festival. Her film Unstuckness Practice, co-directed with Sharon Chohi Kim, received Honorable Mention from Experimental Forum Los Angeles and LA Underground Film Forum. Her audiovisual collaboration with Rachel Beetz was featured at the Hear Now Festival and named one of San Francisco Classical Voice’s Best Classical Performances of 2024.
She has been an artist in residence with Automata Theater, Human Resources Los Angeles, and the Women’s International Study Center. Her work is supported by the Center for Cultural Innovation, Eastside Arts Initiative, and New Music USA. She holds a DMA from UC San Diego.
